Most consumers know that vegan health and beauty items are animal products and cruelty-free. In fact, that is one way that buyers narrow down their choices. They look for labels that point to these vegan concepts. What they, and you, may not know is what items in the products are actually not considered vegan and which ones are. Here are the main ways that vegan acne treatment pads, and other vegan products, differ from traditional options and what you should look for yourself.

All Portions are Vegan

One of the first things you will notice in vegan acne treatment pads versus their traditional chemical counterparts is that all aspects of the product are vegan. This means that the pads used for the acne treatment are made from organic cotton or bamboo. The cleaning fluid for the acne treatment is usually made from a natural plant-based oil such as tea tree or other antifungal or antibacterial oil. Even the packaging of the treatment is in a form of vegan plastic, recycled option, or glass.

Plant-Based

Vegan acne treatments will likely be a plant-based option. For this reason, you will need to check the ingredients to ensure there is not a plant or food included that could cause you allergies. Vegan treatments are usually derived from organically sourced locations and plants. This means that the plants used in the product did not have non-organic fertilizer used or GMO's used. This ensures quality vegan ingredients from start to finish and that you are getting no animal bi-products in any stage of the development of the product or in your treatment.

GMO and Dairy Free

Vegan does not just mean that there are no animals or animal bi-products in your acne treatment. The vegan label also includes no dairy products and no GMO products. This may also include no honey since honey is derived from bees and considered to be an animal bi-product. GMO's are considered chemicals are therefore not vegan friendly. Dairy such as milk bases can be replaced with a vegan milk like coconut milk if that is part of the acne treatment pads moisturizer base.

These are just a few of the differences between vegan acne treatment pads and traditional chemical-based pads. If you are ready to buy your acne treatment, consider looking for the proper vegan labels to reduce the chances of getting animal bi-products. Make sure that the labels read non-GMO, vegan, and animal cruelty-free.
